sharing a secret

i love weddings. i love the beauty, the love, the celebration and the planning. i love that it joins two people in love and gives everyone who loves them a chance to celebrate that unity. i love it all. i am completely in love with my boyfriend, kyle. we are happy and love each other more and more every day. it's true and it's real and i look forward to a life with him one day, and having the best wedding our town has ever seen. with that said, one of my favorite blogs is ruffled, a blog all about diy weddings. best. thing. ever. every day is something beautiful to look at and i feel like i can share in these unbelievably wonderful days with these people. i love creativity and these weddings are overflowing with it, and along with dreaming of being with kyle forever, i dream of one day being on this blog! i love this blog so much i am hesitant to even share it with you. it's such a good one i want to be selfish and keep it to myself! here are some of my recent obsessions found on the site. enjoy!

peace&love.

t-shirts & lovers

basically for the entire summer, kyle and i have been trying to cross off all of these creative projects and ideas from a long list of to-do's. finally, in the last days of august, we have completed his most pressing project — robert c. byrd t-shirts.

when he first decided this would be his first t-shirt attempt, neither of us had any idea what we were doing. but after purchasing a screen printing kit from hobby lobby, watching countless youtube tutorials and reading the instruction pamphlet about 10 times, we decided to try.

on sunday, we moved slow because we were unsure of what we were doing. the first screen didn't work, so we decided to call it a night and try again.

on monday, the same thing happened — the screen didn't work so we spent most of the night just waiting and scrubbing off the unsuccessful screens.

on tuesday, we figured out that our problem was the transparencies we used for the photo emulsion on the screen, so we drove to wayne to print more and try again.

on wednesday, our screen finally worked after we stacked three identical transparencies on top of one another and let it sit under the light for an hour. we tested out a few shirts just for practice, but they weren't exactly how kyle wanted them. so we washed out the screen and decided to work more the next afternoon.

then today, we began working around 3:30 and to our surprise, the first shirt was almost perfect. as we continued screen printing any old shirt we could find laying around, we became more confident and creative with the printing. multiple colors, even! i took photos of kyle wearing the shirts and fixed him up an etsy account to sell our masterpieces.

despite the fact that this project has been frustrating at times, this week-long adventure with kyle is just one of the many reasons i love him. he is creative and fun, determined and abmitious, and to top it all off, he loves being creative with me. it has been a long week, but a fun one no doubt.

this is the beginning

so i've finally started a blog, and if you asked me, it looks pretty good. :) to kickstart what may or may not be a successful piece of internet, i give you two lists.

i love summer so very much. the heat. the sunshine. the swimming. the tan. i love it all. but, whenever fall rolls around, i feel a mixture of disappointment that my favorite season is ending and excitement that it is about to change. the crispness in the air feels so nice when the seasons are changing, and so many good things come along with fall as well. so...here are 10 reasons why i love both.

10 reasons i love summer
1. school is out for 3 whole months.
2. everyone seems a little more relaxed.
3. sandals can be worn every day.
4. everything is bright - makeup, nail polish, clothes, smiles.
5. get to enjoy the cold drinks at starbucks that i won't dare order when it is cold outside.
6. tans.
7. driving in the car with the windows down and the music up loud.
8. night swimming.
9. get to go the beach.
10. more time for creative things.

10 reasons i love fall
1. the mornings feel nice instead of humid.
2. the leaves changing are beautiful.
3. back to school shopping.
4. football games at my old high school.
5. new clothes, new outfits.
6. get to start wearing my favorite boots and tights.
7. get to cuddle on a warm couch when it's chilly outside.
8. christmas/the oscars are on their way in a few months.
9. new television shows start.
10. cinnamon/clove flavored things come back to life.
